The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It will also leave clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are a plus.
Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair that is tangled and large debris and wash them if required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
robot vacuum cleaners uk has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
For larger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. robot vacuum cleaners uk has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
